ANALYSIS: JEFF HARDY/SHEAMUS PAYBACK INCIDENT

Pro Wrestling is about putting on an exciting and thrilling performance, yes, but it is essential that it is safe also. This isn't a competition sport, so no contact of such ferocity should be done, especially seeing as Sheamus is considered a veteran of the business. Now I like Sheamus, I'll put that out there. I spent good money on a autograph of him, as I did for Jeff Hardy too, So this isn't a gang up on Sheamus article, But what Sheamus did at WWE's Payback 2017 event was not on, not on at all.

Sheamus was a modest technician/brawler when he first joined WWE, But in recent years, He turned into a bonafied all out brawler who has gained a big reputation, but not a good one I might add. Daniel Bryan suffered the true might of the Celtic Warrior, which ultimately swayed the Former American Dragon into retirement for fear of more concussions to come. Now, fast forward to 2017, Sheamus is in a Tag Team title match with partner Cesaro against the legendary Hardy Brothers at WWE Payback, and it looks to be a clash of mighty titans, but minutes in, and a very serious incident took place which saw a prone Jeff hardy take a vile straight boot to head and torso from Sheamus, which led to Jeff having a tooth smashed out. Now, accidents happen in wrestling, its inevitable, but when the accidents are coming from punches and kicks instead of moves and holds, there is a problem there. While I don't particularly like punches and kicks, They are supposed to be used as either a setup to a move or make a match into a fight as to a technical display, but they aren't supposed to be the moves that put wrestlers on the shelf!

One of the key lessons in wrestling is how to throw a punch, yes, accidents will happen when a punch accidentally connects, but the force that a punch is usually thrown, no major damage is done as the wrestlers will usually continue on, But the power of the kick delivered on Jeff who was lying still, not moving, waiting for Sheamus to deliver the move was far far far too much, infact it bordered the velolicity of the Seth Rollins knee to John Cena's face, which saw Cena's nose break and move half the way across his face, This should have sent off alarm bells to WWE, something is wrong here guys!

Of recent years, More accidents have occurred as a result of kicks and stiff punches than if a piledriver was used on a regular basis, and It baffles me as to why WWE are banning moves such as the Curb Stomp, Piledriver, Brainbuster and other moves like those, yet allow the even more deadly Buckle-Bomb, stiff punches and nasty kicks to go on that are actually putting guys and girls on the shelf just as much as the moves they banned would.
