WP: Can The NWA Survive On YouTube?

Date: 01/10/2019 | Written By: Jack Williams

Unless the current situation is only just a temporary situation, I don't expect the NWA to thrive on YouTube. The last time that a wrestling company was fully dependant on YouTube for their weekly TV series, it resulted in the ironically named DEFIANT wrestling company going out of business. However, The NWA has a brand name that could result in an eventual TV deal, should the newly created Power tv show be a success.

Despite the success the NWA has running the Ten Pounds of Gold series on the video-sharing site, Running a weekly TV show on the site is an entirely different matter, as it will be a true test of how far Billy Corgan is willing to go finanically to keep the show running week after week, as Defiant (fka WCPW) couldn't afford to continue running due to the little revenue they got in return from the site.

Now I could be wrong, but it to me looks although the NWA and Defiant share another similar theme, as both rely on free-agent talent to fill their shows. Now, I know that the NWA has signed some stars, IE Nick Aldis and Eli Drake, but the fact still remains that an entire roster is needed to run a successful, big-time wrestling company, and relying on free-agents, especially in this specific time when WWE, AEW, Impact, ROH, MLW and NJPW etcetera are snapping up every bit of talent they can leaving the free-agency market very thinly lined for shows like the now-defunct Defiant and the NWA.
