Over the years, We have seen a long long stretch of wrestlers sidelined with several injuries, having to undergo surgery, and missing months of action. Arguably, no one has had the most misfortune in regards to injuries in recent years, compared to DANIEL BRYAN. Shortly after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at one of the most storied WrestleMania events in history, Bryan was forced to relinquish the gold as he faced career-threatening surgery.
It was not until early 2015 that Daniel Bryan returned in time for the Royal Rumble, before winning the Intercontinental Title for the first time, which again, he was forced to give up as injuries caught up with him again. Time simply ran out for Daniel Bryan, and it was heartbreaking to watch. Daniel Bryan’s fairwell to the WWE Universe was both touching and final. It was closure. His teary and heartfelt words were sincere and as real as it gets.
Spirit Of A Dragon.
Daniel Bryan left a lasting impact on the business and on the lives of many of his peers. He was not just “the underdog,” he was the ultimate underdog. Bryan (and some would say CM PUNK) paved the way for Independent stars to make it in the WWE. Bryan is a former ROH World Champion, and one of only three that have gone on to become WWE World Champion, others being Punk and SETH ROLLINS. Aside from this, Bryan also managed to capture the support of the WWE Universe in a way nobody had done for years. Around the summer of 2013, the Daniel Bryan fan support exploded into a phenomenon. For months, he would get the loudest reactions and echoes of “Yes!” chants.
The following he had made it simply impossible not to make this man a headliner. And after a long chase, Daniel Bryan had his WrestleMania moment, defeating three members of EVOLUTION to take home the gold. It was a testament to the “small guy that was told no” refusing to take no for an answer. Daniel Bryan is also fondly remembered in the WWE for his friendship with CONNOR “THE CRUSHER” MICHAELEK, who tragically passed away just weeks after his hero’s triumph at WrestleMania, a bond his family and fans cherish.
