IT MAY BE A CONSEQUENCE of the DUSTY RHODES Tag Team Classic, or it may be a Creative oversight, but it seems that NXT are failing to highlight their Champion. While FINN BÁLOR has been busy teaming with SAMOA JOE, I can not help but feel the Creative team could be doing more to highlight the importance of the NXT Championship, and what it means that Bálor is holding it. When former Champion KEVIN OWENS was Champion, he was the man.He was a target to everyone, and he made sure everyone knew it every week. Granted, SAMI ZAYN spent most of his reign injured at the hands of Owens, but that only added fuel to their feud, and it still made the Title feel important.
NEVILLE was wowing crowds every week during his reign, and the list goes on. It just feels like Bálor has blended into the background since winning the gold, and at present, the Women’s Championship feels like the most prestigious Title in NXT. That is not a bad thing at all for the NXT Divas. In fact that is fantastic for them, but in a male-dominated sport, that too can damage the prestige of the NXT Championship. Share The Wealth. Perhaps NXT are trying to make each Title as big as the other two, but is that really a good thing?
Every company has its top prize, and if no Title is bigger than the others, what really is the point? As essentially a separate brand in WWE, NXT should be no different. I can only feel like the lack of attention is also damaging Finn Bálor himself, as there is a large gap in the NXT roster due to injuries, and Bálor is missing the chance to take the spotlight.
