Review: The Bound for Glory Series (16/02/2016)

TNA has had some pretty amazing ideas for match stipulations over the years. Some that stand out are the Lethal Lockdown match and the King of the Mountain match, But the one that this article focuses on is the Bound for Glory Series which led up to the Pay Per View of Bound for Glory.

Its idea and its concept was genius. It gave twelve wrestlers something to do in the months leading up to the big event itself. It had more than just that, It gave wrestlers who had no story or feud in the works a chance to get back on screen and working again, Rather than them waiting for work until the PPV.

The series' length was just right, Because it gave even the losers at the bottom of the leaderboards plenty of time to catch up to the top and back in contention, Especially when the series would feature special matches that would award up to twenty five points for a victory.

The final part in the BDG series, Was the battle royale for loads of points to get the big jump and advance into the final four, Who would then fight in semi finals and then finals to determine the winner of the series and who would main event Bound for Glory for the World heavyweight title. The points system was also ingenious, With Ten points awarded for a submission victory, Seven points for a pinfall victory, Five points for a countout victory, Three points for a Disqualification victory, Two points each for a draw, and minus Ten points for a Disqualification loss, Which made matches interesting to watch as you would know that neither wrestler would end a match in DQ.

Should this concept be brought back?, Maybe, But in small doses. Like only bringing it back every other year as to making it an annual thing like TNA did before it was taken out of the TNA calendar, So that us, The audience won't take it for granted like the WWE Royal Rumble has become in recent years.
