If your a Wrestling company that doesn't tape, and simply tours across the country or across the world, the company just simply doesn't receive all the benefits that a televised wrestling product gets from running shows without the cameras rolling. What people seem to forget is that even if its infront of 30 people, or infront of 10,000 like a WWE house show, the benefits for workers, production crews and backstage officials is unmeasurable, as new methods can be initiated and new characters and new wrestlers to the company can be trialed without the fear of it ruining a taped show. The outcomes of new tweaks and adjustments can be run without getting a big backlash which WCW TV received in the mid 90's with creations such as the Yeti, Glacier to name a couple. Eric Bischoff made a monumental error when he wanted to rid the live events that WCW ran, as he believed that WCW was a television company that did Pro Wrestling, as to a Pro Wrestling company that did television, a big difference, as TNA in its final years under the Dixie Carter era went through when it became a TV only wrestling company. While WWE over the years has made some errors regarding new characters being aired on TV, as most if not all taped wrestling shows have done at some point, to their credit they still use and continue to run live events which gives invaluable knowledge that can't be got from taped shows.
The production crews get the chance to try out new lighting settings or tryout new techniques to help evolve the taped product, which could look bad if the wrong lighting or sound is used on the finished taped product, like TNA tried in the Manhattan Centre in New York in the summer of 2014, where the different lighting settings were used and sampled. Poor production quality or lighting being to dark or too bright can be a turn off for some viewers, and a distraction from the product itself. The attention of using live events to draw in new fans who just went out for the night out is also a big gain, as many may not have seen wrestling before and new followers can be attained. The die hard fans who come along to see the shows also helps the company increase merchandise sales, as most people who go out to shows will buy merchandise or souvenirs of the show.
As for the workers themselves, the opportunities to experiment with new modifications such as new moves and holds aswell as working with different wrestlers, gives them more practice in the ring for a smoother and enhanced ring-work. The advantage of being able to pair up certain wrestlers in a program allows bookers to see how see how well they gel together and plan for future feuds without the fear of a big planned feud flopping due to poor chemistry. The advantage of being able to perform without the restrictions of a TV match means that invaluable experience is gained to help enhance the wrestlers, which in turn makes for better matches down the line.
