I, Like many fans, Love me some Eli Drake. He is entertainment personified, and his ring work is also coming along extremely well. I truly wondered what would happen if Drake re-signed with Impact, would he go back to the main event scene for the world title, or would he stay at the bottom of pile with another dud storyline like the one with Grado and Joe Hendry, then seeing him face James "What the hell" Ellsworth at Bound for Glory, It made me really really wonder if he was ever going to be taken seriously again, But then I saw Abyss come out after the squash match, which it thankfully was, and put Drake through a table.
Many saw this as Drake being buried, But I tried to see if this was something more than just a moment for Abyss at Bound for Glory as a newly dubbed Hall of Famer, But after a few weeks, things began to click together when it was revealed that Drake's original opponent was Joey Janella, Indie superstar who dabbles in the hardcore, Impact were setting up a feud with Drake and Hardcore wrestling.
This would lead to a few segments with the returning Joseph Park becoming Eli's lawyer in a class action lawsuit against Impact Wrestling for an unsafe working environment. Of course, this was a ruse by Drake to get Park in the ring, ready for an ambush. The next week, Eli would declare himself the last of a dying breed, and declared his position on Hardcore wrestling. This led to seeing hardcore royalty Tommy Dreamer coming out and giving a heart felt and passionate promo on what the real meaning of Hardcore is in a face-to-face stand-off with Drake.
Drake and Dreamer would then have two bouts back to back, the first ending in a win for Dreamer when Drake walked out giving the countout victory to the heart and soul of ECW, Then the second becoming an instant rematch with No DQ rules. Eli would defeat Dreamer after a brutal war. Then after the matches in a backstage segment, Drake would receive two tickets to the Monsters Ball! The Monsters Ball match between Drake and Abyss will take place on January 6 at Home Coming, and as for who's going to win, I'm going to go with Drake, which will continue on this war with the hardcore, which I believe will ultimately end with a clash with Raven, Who Drake taunted during segments at the Asylum.
I feel I should mention that I don't like hardcore wrestling that goes to the lengths of light tubes and what they do in Japan and in CZW, but the hardcore matches that take place in Impact and the technical/hardcore bouts in ECW that Sabu, RVD, Jerry Lynn etcetera had.
