There is a long history between John Cena and The Undertaker, And a match at Wrestlemania would be certainly no be a randomly built match with no story to go on. When John competed in his first WWE match against Kurt Angle back in 2002, He lost by pinfall to the Olympic Gold Medalist, But his loss made as much of a statement as if he had actually defeated Angle. After his match, He received alot of praise from wrestlers and crew, And also getting a sign of respect from the Undertaker himself. Later on Cena would go on to battle the Deadman in Singles matches on Smackdown and at Vengeance 2003, and battle Undertaker in Tag Bouts with the likes of A-Train and Brock Lesnar as partners.
Cena began to make a name for himself when he used to mock his opponents with his freestyling Raps he performed during his entrance and before his opponent got to the ring, And he got more than he payed for when he mocked the Phenom. The Rivalry between the two would go on for months, And eventually they would go on to only fight on rare occasions. But when they did meet, It made for great television. So they would both go on to have major success in their own respective brands, With Undertaker staying on the Smackdown brand, and John moving to the Raw brand. They would go on to be the headline acts of the two brands for years to come, With Undertaker having iconic feuds with Batista and Edge, and Cena having a brutal wars with Randy Orton and CM Punk.
Its obvious to see when you watch any John Cena match, He takes so much care into protecting his opponent as well as himself. With the recent battles with Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker has most certainly been on a road trip to hell in the past matches with Lesnar, Which have caused much pain and problems for the Undertaker during and after his matches. So with the Undertaker getting older in years, Would the safe thing to do be Undertaker vs John Cena at his favourite event? And put aside the risk of facing someone brutal like Lesnar and have a safe match, which in could in turn help the two put on a Five star match? Its been a dream match for years now to see the Deadman and the Cenation Leader go at it at Wrestlemania, So lets hope the Rumours are true of the Earth Shattering match come true.
