When WCW, aka World Championship Wrestling Gets brought up in conversation, Sooner or later the demise of WCW will be talked about because of its shocking end and slow route to that end. Some of WCW's major suspects for its end were Ed Ferrara, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan Kevin Nash and Vince Russo, who were the major hitters during the Prime of the promotions tenure in the nineties. The greed of WCW for ratings ended up being the poison that finished off the promotion to the point of no return.
Now almost over fifteen years after the folding of WCW, TNA Impact Wrestling is now the next promotion deemed ready to collapse and follow in the footsteps of WCW. TNA has always had its haters, even from the beginning of its arrival, but Its still here and its still the number two wrestling promotion in the World.
TNA wrestling has been criticised as being a WWE imitation, or a WCW reprise, But it has proved it is nothing like its so called peers. WCW could not survive with Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo and Hulk Hogan calling the shots, But TNA wrestling has done something that nobody even realises that they have done, Surviving the warpath of three of the biggest ego's that the industry has ever witnessed. Hulk Hogan is no stranger to making sure he's well off, and the same can be said for others who have used they're backstage power to get things the way they want them to be, But when it was announced that Hulk Hogan had Joined TNA, and would be in control of pretty much the running of the company it was seen as a huge step up for TNA, and was visioned as the step needed to run against the WWE for position of the number one company in pro wrestling.
But things weren't going to go the way that everyone hoped. With Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan and Vince Russo all combined in what could be said as a WCW reunion party of the higher management, The power trio would go on to use the same strategies as used in WCW almost 20 years prior. The Chaos of Money flying left, Right and Centre at the expense of TNA wrestling and the Carter family, Money would be no concern for the trio as previously in WCW they had higher budgets to work with.
The limits of the wallet in TNA didn't stop them as they blew through the money like wildfire in the woods with their paychecks increasing and productivity and young stars getting nowhere. The idea that they had was bringing in established stars would bring in the crowds, Whilst that may have worked in bringing in the crowds in the short term, In the long run it proved to be a big mistake as the budgets would become even smaller to work with. But despite everything, TNA wrestling survived it and are still going today without the trio involved any further, It was a good decision to move on from them, but they should have learned from WCW's mistakes, But we know now that they wont go down that route again as TNA is displaying a whole new reboot and a whole new line up of wrestlers headlining the shows. So, it is fairly conclusive that TNA wrestling has Surpassed WCW in that sense.
